More power for mobile robots – Wiferion is expanding its battery range to include batteries from the Canadian battery manufacturer Discover Battery. Wiferion is thus offering an additional solution for applications in which robots are operated for longer periods of time before a scheduled charging cycle takes place. In addition to the already established performance category, which serves high-performance applications with a high charging frequency, Wiferion is creating another option for mobile robotics with the new category.
Inductive charging for even more applications
Warehouse robots that scan shelves overnight or driverless transport systems (AGVs) that have to cover entire shifts – there are many applications in mobile robotics where in-process charging cannot be implemented or is not necessary. With the Discover Lithium batteries, Wiferion now offers a suitable solution for these areas of application. « By expanding our portfolio, we are offering customers who require a longer operating time for their processes a technically and economically optimized solution, » explains Matthieu Ebert, Director Product & Technology at Wiferion. « Our approach follows the « right spec » principle – we don’t offer a one-size-fits-all solution, but the battery that best suits our customers’ specific requirements. » In addition, Discover‘s Lithium battery modules are perfectly matched to the charging currents of the Wiferion chargers in order to make optimum use of both systems.
Addition of a second battery category to the portfolio

“We are excited to announce the expansion of our partnership with Wiferion, a pioneer in wireless charging technology, and grateful for the trust placed in our products. The Discover Lithium Professional battery is our 4th generation Lithium battery and perfectly complements Wiferion’s chargers. These batteries are certified, support closed-loop communication and are OEM-approved – making them an ideal choice for AGV OEMs worldwide.”
Discover’s Vice President of Business Development, Alexander Marotz
The new product line expands the portfolio with a solution with a higher capacity per module. Two different modules are available: 24V and 48V. This means that the Discover system only requires modules to be connected in parallel. The Discover Lithium Professional batteries also provide the familiar full integration with the Wiferion chargers to enable a 100% regulated charging process.
Advantages of inductive charging for new robotic applications
With the new category, applications without regular intermediate charging can now also benefit from the advantages of inductive charging technology. As no mechanical contacts are required, the charging infrastructure remains maintenance-free and is less susceptible to wear or soiling. In addition, wireless energy transmission ensures increased safety as there are no open electrical contacts – an advantage particularly in dusty or damp environments. The flexibility of charging planning means that operating processes can be customized.
